Authorized Representative

Definition:
An authorized representative refers to the person responsible for providing information to Covanta Secure Services on behalf of the generator to determine if a waste stream is compatible with the Covanta Secure Services specifications

Box Truck

Definition:
A box truck is a truck where the cab and box are one. Separation of the two is not possible. Also called a straight truck.

CAS #

Definition:
A CAS # refers to the Chemical Abstract Service Number established by the American Chemical Society. This is a very element and compound specific number. Many common chemical compounds are marketed under different names. The CAS # encompasses all of the names under one formula. By knowing the CAS # of a material we are able to ID the formula and process your request faster.

Consumer Health and Beauty Waste

Definition:
Consumer Health and Beauty Waste is a finished, consumer packaged product. Examples: Consumer Products (Food, Clothing, Toys, Pet Care, Cleaners), Health and Beauty (Cosmetics, Shampoo, Creams, Lotions), Over the Counter drugs (non-prescription cold, allergy), raw material and related debris.

Cubic Yard Box

Definition:
A Cubic Yard Box refers to a shipping box that is approximately one cubic yard in volume (3ft X 3ft X 3ft).

Definition:

Oily Waste

Definition:
Any contaminated debris with oily waste as defined below. An example of oily waste is any lubricating or fuel oil that is used or virgin. The definition of Used oil in 40 CFR Part 279 means any oil that has been refined from crude oil, or any synthetic oil, that has been used and as a result of such use is contaminated by physical or chemical impurities. This definition may vary slightly to included virgin oils depending on the state of generation and/or state of disposal. (Example: Minnesota)

Manufacturing and Industrial Debris

Definition:
Manufacturing and Industrial Debris are materials related to manufacturing that exclude Production and Process waste. Examples: Cardboard, plastic, wood, pallets.

Non-Manufacturing Waste (NMW)

Definition:
Non-Manufacturing Waste (NMW) is waste from Non-Manufacturing activities including office and cafeteria Trash, Examples: Food wastes, office paper, cardboard boxes.

Pharmaceutical Waste

Definition:
Pharmaceutical Waste is production wastes, process wastes, and finished/ unfinished product directly related to the pharmaceutical industry manufacturing process. Examples: Pharmaceutical Packaged Products, waste from the production of pharmaceuticals, raw materials and related debris.

Process and Production Waste (PPW)

Definition:
Process and Production Waste is production wastes, process wastes, and chemicals directly related to the manufacturing process. Examples: Chemical intermediates, sealers, filters, sludges, filter cakes, floor sweepings.

Roll Off

Definition:
A roll off is a box container that can be left on site, separate from truck. Usually available in several sizes, from 10 cubic yards to 40 cubic yards.

A service company is a company hired by the generator to manage wastes.

Definition:
A super sack is a tightly woven mylar or cloth bag version of a cubic yard box. Usually made of Tyvek Material.

Van Trailers

Definition:
A van trailer refers to when the cab and trailer are two separate units. Trailer section is usually 48 feet or 53 feet in length.

Definition:
